STATUS:
The Technology Association is
a professional association for teachers of technology.
OUR VISION:
To develop teachers and learners
who are critical, creative innovative and Technologically
literate.
OUR MISSION:
To provide support to teachers
who will develop learners to be skilled problem solvers.
THE MISSION WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED
BY:
o Rendering effective, relevant
and efficient support to teachers.
o Creating opportunities for professional growth.
o Being agents of change and work actively towards the
transformation and upliftment of education.
o Promoting life-long learning.
o Being sympathetic, empathetic and active listeners
thereby promoting respect, dignity and professionalism
of teachers.
o Build mutual trust by promoting joint problem-solving
strategies between teachers and all stakeholders.
o Be responsible and accountable in the management and
provision of the Technology Curriculum.
THE AIM:
o To facilitate interaction
between members.
o To inform members and facilitate in-service training.
o To represent the collective ideas of members in matters
of Technology.
o To promote the development of Technology as a Learning
Area in Grade R – 9.
o To build foundations for FET.
MODE OF OPERATION:
o National and Regional conferences.
o National and Regional seminars.
o Local interest groups.
o Local training courses.
o Regular information bulletins.
o Representation on Technology Learning Area committees
and other committees.
o Research and reporting on the professional situation
and needs of the members.
o Updated website with links.
OBJECTIVES:
o Hosting of National Technology
Conference. (Awaiting NGO registration number)
o 3 local meetings per year.
o Networking of intellectual resources via e-mail and
our website on the Internet.
o Set standards of assessment.
o Link with Industry for interaction, support and training.
o Link with similar organisations in South Africa.
o Link with parallel group in Africa and abroad.
o Expand National membership.
LEGAL STATUS:
TASA is a non-profit organisation.
